FORT WAYNE – Sydney Buck scored 23 points to lead the Homestead girls basketball team to a 43-35 victory over Huntington North in a Class 4A sectional game at Homestead on Friday night.
The Spartans trailed by four points before an 18-5 third-quarter run put them in control.
Josie Fisher added six points for the victorious Spartans.
Huntington North’s Allyson Trout scored a team-best 11 points.
NORTHROP 53, NORTH SIDE 33: In a Class 4A sectional at Snider, the Bruins were paced by Quila Jackson’s 18 points.
Aleah Swary added 13.
The Bruins opened the game with a 14-5 run and kept it up in the second quarter with an 11-5 run.
North Side’s Jayla Lewis scored 13 points.
WARSAW 59, CONCORD 21: In a Class 4A sectional in Dunlap, the Tigers were paced by 11 points each from Jennifer Walker-Crawford and Brooklyn Harrison. After building a 14-6 lead, the Tigers went on a 17-0 second-quarter run.
SOUTH SIDE 50, NEW HAVEN 18: Lakesha LaMaster-Stephens’ 10 points paced the Archers in the victory at Homestead.
South Side opened the game with a 15-3 run and never wavered.
ANGOLA 50, GARRETT 27: In a Class 3A game at Bishop Dwenger, Claire Grubb scored 11 points to lead the Hornets, who also got 10 from Rachel Rinehart.
Brandi Dawson scored 13 for the Railroaders.
CONCORDIA 60, BISHOP DWENGER 42: Also at Dwenger, the Cadets got 23 points from Courtney Smith, and their 15-7 game-opening run was too much for the Saints to overcome.
Alyssa Gibson scored 12 for the Saints.
BISHOP LUERS 69, EASTSIDE 37: In Bluffton, Allison Butler and Tashayla Sutorius each scored 12 points for the Knights in a Class 2A sectional game.
Emma Wolfe added 11 for Luers, which trailed 14-7 before a 23-8 second-quarter run.
Eastside’s Brianna Moore scored 13 points and Lindsey Jones added 12.
SOUTH ADAMS 34, CHURUBUSCO 25: Alyssa Bluhm’s 24 points paced the Starfires, who only had four scorers in the game at Bluffton.
South Adams was outscored 6-0 in the first quarter, then outscored the Eagles 9-0 in the second.
BETHANY CHRISTIAN 49, HAMILTON 37: In the Class A sectional at Canterbury, Bethany recovered from an early 7-2 deficit with a 12-7 second-quarter run.
Then, with a 28-27 lead, Bethany finished the game with a 21-10 run.
Hamilton’s Linday Stoy scored 17 points – reaching 1,000 for her career – and had 11 rebounds.
SOUTHERN WELLS 68, COWAN 13: In Poneto, the host Raiders won their Class A game at home, led by 12 points from Caitie Horton.
