Local man admits child molesting

A 33-year-old Fort Wayne man pleaded guilty Wednesday to child molesting, admitting to sexually abusing a young girl.

Antonio C. Olivas, of the 11700 block of Maywin Drive, had been charged with seven counts of child molesting – five Class A felonies and two Class C felonies.

He pleaded guilty to an added charge of child molesting, a Class B felony.

The girl was 7 or 8 years old when the abuse began in April 2009, according to court documents. Her parents reported it to police a year ago, just days after she said Olivas had sex with her.

As part of the plea agreement with prosecutors, Olivas’ prison sentence will be determined by a judge. The additional charges will be dismissed at sentencing.
