Ice Chips

  • Komets pregame primer
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Greetings from Wings Stadium, where the colossal scoreboard (referred to lovingly by me as the Scorebrick) is still a little slanted, and the ice is orange tonight in honor of Halloween.
  • Who is Marcus Power?
If you follow the ECHL's transactions report, you may have noticed Marcus Power was put on the Komets' suspended list. In which case, you probably asked, "Who is Marcus Power?
  • Additions to K's

Looking at the K's

To prepare you for the Komets' game tonight at Loveland, Colo., where they lost 2-1 on Wednesday, I have this story on goaltender Charlie Effinger: Click here.

This is just a feeling, but I really think the Komets' success this season is going to be greatly determined by Effinger. I just think Reiter may find a place in the American Hockey League.

Thoughts?

  • Former Komets star Leo Thomas, who was recently suspended for the season in the Southern Professional Hockey League for punching a fan, has now received nine games from the Central Hockey League. Click here. The CHL and SPHL do not, necessarily, honor each other's agreements. So when Thomas moved to the CHL to play for Fort Wayne-native Brian Gratz, the CHL wanted to conduct its own review before deciding what punishment to give Thomas, who was allowed to play until that happened. It's interesting that the CHL came up with a more lenient response, but I don't know that it had as much data (interviews with parties involved, etc.) to go on. But before you think this is piling on, Thomas still in a weird sort of way got a promotion. The CHL is a higher level than the SPHL.
