Indiana added one of its most impressive recruiting classes in program history on signing day.
The Hoosiers, who signed 22 players, added a class that ranks No. 41 by Rivals.com, No. 51 by Scout.com and No. 42 by 247Sports.
Indiana had four players who received a four-star ranking by Rivals.com in defensive back Antonio Allen of Ben Davis, athlete Rashard Fant of Our Lady of Mercy in Fairburn, Ga., defensive end David Kenney of Pike and defensive tackle Darius Latham of North Central.
The Hoosiers kept a lot of their focus on improving the defense with this class, and Steve Wiltfong, a national recruiting writer for 247Sports, said IU appears to have filled a lot of defensive needs with this class.
"You start with the defensive lineman David Kenney, the most polished and best defensive lineman in the state," Wiltfong said.
"Indiana was able to flip him from Iowa, and Iowa, if you look at them traditionally, they have done very well at sending their defensive linemen to the NFL, and evaluating and finding the right guys. I think David Kenney getting an offer from Iowa is a testament of how good he is.
"Darius Latham has as much upside as anyone in the Midwest. A two-sport athlete at North Central, looks to begin his IU career across the defensive line, but certainly could be an offensive lineman for them as well. A former Wisconsin commit, and you look at Indiana, they are trying to beat Iowa and Wisconsin, to flip guys that were committed to them to play for them is huge.
"Gone are the days of Indiana beating out the MAC schools for their talent. They are beating out Big Ten schools and beyond for some of these guys."
