Area slated to get 2-4 inches of snow

An Alberta clipper rushing across the upper Midwest is expected to dump 2 to 4 inches of snow on northern Indiana, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory will last until 1 p.m. today, and the bulk of the snow will fall between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., possibly complicating morning commutes, the weather service said.

Untreated roads will be slick and snow-covered, and drivers should anticipate limited visibility, the weather service said.

"Just use caution when you're driving," meteorologist Courtney Obergfell said.

"Give yourself extra time, and slow down," she added.

An Ablerta clipper is a fast-moving low-pressure system that moves southeast out of the Canadian province of Alberta during the winter.

Clippers usually bring light snow, colder temperatures and strong winds.

Obergfell said winds should be 5 to 10 mph today.

Since October, Fort Wayne has seen 14.3 inches of snow.

That amount is 7.4 inches below normal, Obergfell said.
