Milam to rejoin Komets

'Will quarterback our power play,' David Franke says

Defenseman Jamie Milam, a member of the Komets' CHL championship team last season, will join the team for the rest of the year, the Komets announced today.

This is Milam's third appearance in Fort Wayne. He was here last season, but started this year splitting time between Cardiff in England and GKS in Poland.

"(W)e are reaching back to last year's championship team," Komet general manager David Franke said in a statement. "Jamie is a proven player in the ECHL as well as the other leagues he has played in, and he will quarterback our power play, which is an area we need help."

Milam, of Lake Orion, Mich., made his pro debut with the Komets in March 2006 after playing with Northern Michigan in the NCAA. Last year, he appeared in all 66 games for Fort Wayne, with 20 goals and 21 assists, tops among Komets defensemen. He had three goals and nine assists in the playoffs.

Milam may meet the club in Colorado this weekend in time for Friday night's game, the Komets said.
