Saint Francis women notch 9th straight win

Not even a less-than-perfect shooting eye could dim the Saint Francis women Saturday.

The fourth-ranked Cougars shot just 38 percent but won their ninth straight game, turning back No. 14 Bethel 52-49 at the Hutzell Athletic Center. Kayla Drake scored 21 points, Jenelle Wilson 12 and Brooke Ridley 10 for Saint Francis (24-2, 13-1 Crossroad League), which held Bethel to 29 percent shooting (15 of 51).

LOURDES 72, INDIANA TECH 62: The visitors from Ohio outscored Tech 39-23 in the second half. Rachael Kruse scored 19 points for the Warriors (11-15, 9-9 WHAC), who led 39-33 at the half.

HUNTINGTON 55, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE 51: The Foresters built a 14-point lead at the 13-minute mark of the second half, then hung on to win at Huntington. Pazia Speed led the Foresters (15-10, 7-7 Crossroads) with 17 points and Sara Miller-Jennings added 13.

FRANKLIN 44, MANCHESTER 42: Erynn Meiklejohn scored 13 points to lead the host Spartans (8-13, 7-7 HCAC).

GRACE 59, GOSHEN 50: Juaneice Jackson scored 29 points to lead Grace (17-9, 8-6 Crossroads) at Winona Lake.

CALVIN-TRINE: The game at Calvin was postponed because of weather. The game will was rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday.


SAINT FRANCIS 80, BETHEL 79: Ethan Hussey’s three-pointer with eight seconds left, and two Scott Kohne free throws with four seconds showing, lifted the Cougars (15-10, 8-5 Crossroads) to the upset of No. 13 Bethel. Kohne finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

LOURDES 59, INDIANA TECH 45: Cold shooting doomed the host Warriors (19-7, 12-6 WHAC), who made 18 of 54 shots for the game. Jeff Hoskins led Tech with 11 points.

FRANKLIN 68, MANCHESTER 48: Jared Schrock scored 11 points to lead the Spartans (4-17, 1-13 HCAC) at Franklin.

GRACE 81, GOSHEN 76: At Goshen, Bruce Grimm Jr. scored 20 points to lead Grace (18-7, 10-4 Crossroads).

HUNTINGTON 64, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE 58: The Foresters (13-13, 4-10 Crossroads) shot 58 percent in the second half (14 of 24) to win in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

TRINE 64, ADRIAN 46: Scott Rogers (17 points), Ian Jackson (15) and Jared Holmquist (14) led the Thunder (14-7, 7-3 MIAA), which shot 58.6 percent in the first half.

BOWLING GREEN 70, BALL STATE 59: In Bowling Green, Ohio, Jauwan Scaife had 17 points for the Cardinals (8-12, 2-6 MAC), who have lost two in a row and six of their past seven.

W. ILLINOIS 68, IUPUI 59: In Indianapolis, Donovan Gibbs led the Jaguars (6-19, 1-10 Summit) with 18 points.

MISSOURI STATE 62, EVANSVILLE 61: In Springfield, Mo., Colt Ryan led Evansville (13-10, 6-5) with 24 points, including 20 in the second half.
