Five escape duplex fire

– A duplex fire late Saturday night was under control in 13 minutes, the Fort Wayne Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded to a fire report at 1060 Delaware Ave. on the city’s north side at 11:57 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the attic area.

The adult resident of the downstairs apartment noticed the smoke, called the fire department and evacuated her two children, the fire department said. When firefighters arrived, they woke up the two upstairs residents, who evacuated themselves from the house. No one was injured.

The house suffered moderate fire, water and smoke damage.
