Stalker handed 8 years

A man accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend and harassing her and her friends with vandalism was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison.

James E. Lawson, 21, had pleaded guilty to stalking, stalking while armed with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm at another person.

According to Allen Superior Court documents, Lawson’s ex-girlfriend filed 17 police reports against him, yet he continued to harass her.

The woman obtained a protective order against Lawson, barring him from seeing her, after he admitted to stealing the gas cap from her vehicle, court records said.

He offered her $100 to have lunch with him in 47 pages of messages on Facebook, court documents said. At one point, he went to a home in May where she was and pointed a gun at another man, court records said.
