Kudos to Smith

I'd say Brett Smith gets the gold star.

The Komets' alternate captain has a goal, an assist and two fights, and the Komets lead the North Division-leading Cincinnati Cyclones 3-0 after two periods at Memorial Coliseum.

The Komets are 15-4-1 when scoring first.

Goaltender Charlie Effinger has stopped all 21 shots he's faced.
