Driver in 6-car DWI crash is sentenced

Biddle

A driver who had a blood-alcohol level of more than six times the legal limit when he slammed into five vehicles at a Fort Wayne intersection in September received prison time Friday.

As part of a plea agreement, an Allen Superior Court judge sentenced 29-year-old Gabriel A. Biddle to eight years in prison on one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing serious bodily injury.

The judge suspended four of those years.

Biddle’s blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.52 percent when he crashed his vehicle into five others at Maple Crest and Evard roads, according to court records.

The crash caused several injuries, and some of the victims were on hand for Biddle’s testimony.

Biddle was also given three years in prison on four counts of criminal recklessness but had those suspended as well.

His driver’s license has also been suspended for five years.
