‘I will … be singing live’: Beyoncé

Admits anthem at inauguration was pre-recorded

Beyoncé faced the music at a news conference Thursday before the Super Bowl, admitting that she sang along to a pre-recorded track when she performed the national anthem on Inauguration Day.

The singer had a news conference Thursday in New Orleans days ahead of her halftime performance at the Super Bowl.

She said she’s a “perfectionist” and wanted her performance for President Obama to be memorable.

Beyonce opened the news conference with a live rendition of the national anthem.

When asked if she would be singing live Sunday, she said: “I will absolutely be singing live.”

Many performances

The entertainment leading up to the Super Bowl is so A-list, Beyoncé may not have the most anticipated performance.

Justin Timberlake is scheduled to give his first major musical performance in four years. Stevie Wonder will perform at an outdoor concert. CeeLo is reuniting with his old hip-hop clique, Goodie Mob, and Rascal Flatts will team up with Journey for a concert. And that’s only a fraction of the all-star events.

Jennifer Hudson will join the chorus from Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing “America the Beautiful” before the game.

Charity work

Some athletes and celebrities are picking up hammers and packaging food for the homeless in the big game’s host city.

The downtown area has arguably never looked better. But a closer look at the city reveals homelessness and neighborhoods that still bear the scars of Katrina.

While in town, some athletes and celebrities are working with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together. Others are working with Make-A-Wish Foundation and the food bank Second Harvest.
