  • Many factors influence our changing climate
Many scientists subscribe to the global warming theory (now called “climate change”), but science is not determined by consensus but by facts.
  • Take full advantage of preventive screenings

Web letter by James E. Hitchcock: Broad assault-weapons definition used to seize legal handguns as well

When Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., wrote the assault weapons ban, she wrote the definition so broadly that it included dozens of firearms that were not assault weapons. This is what really irritated the gun lobby. Actual assault weapons such as M-16s and AK-47s are used in a very small number of crimes each year. The vast majority of gun crimes are committed with plain old-fashioned pistols. The anti-gun people are trying to sell the American public on banning assault weapons and then writing the definitions so broadly as to include dozens of guns that are not assault weapons.

Nobody has mentioned media control. The people who commit these mass shootings are anonymous people who nobody ever paid any attention to. I believe they commit these shootings to get the publicity. They want to be famous like Bonnie and Clyde or Jesse James. We need a system to give them a number instead of using their names.

We don’t publish the names of rape victims or juveniles. Why are we publishing the names of these shooters? Why are we making them famous? Let’s try this for 10 years. Identify these shooters by numbers and see whether taking away the publicity helps reduce the firearms crime.
