A trooper sent to help a woman having car trouble Monday night in DeKalb County ended up arresting her on drunken driving and drug charges, according to the Indiana State Police.
Shortly after 7 p.m., the trooper was dispatched to the 325.5 mile marker on northbound Interstate 69, and he found Rachael Reamer in the driver’s seat of a 2000 Saturn with a flat tire, state police said.
The trooper detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Reamer, and a breath test showed her blood-alcohol content was 0.12 percent, state police said. The legal limit for Indiana drivers is 0.08 percent.
In the car, another trooper found several hypodermic needles including one that held methamphetamine, state police said.
Reamer, 39, of rural Angola was booked into the DeKalb County Jail on preliminary felony charges of maintaining a common nuisance, meth possession and possession of a hypodermic needle, as well as preliminary misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
She was being held Tuesday in lieu of $6,000 bail.
