Victim of fatal house fire is ID’d

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office has identified a man killed in a house fire last week on Chapman Lake.

Stephen T. Hall, 65, of Warsaw, died from smoke inhalation and thermal burns, according to a statement issued by the county coroner’s office.

It said fire investigators believe Hall had been using a portable heater to thaw out frozen water lines in the basement at 2147 Chapman Lake Drive, and that the fire started near the heater.

The blaze was reported about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 23.
