Flat tire: I-69 driver faces DWI, meth charges

Reamer

An Indiana State Police trooper sent to assist a driver with a flat tire on Interstate 69 arrested her instead.

Trooper James Bailey responded to the call in DeKalb County about 7:05 p.m. Monday and reported finding 39-year-old Rachael A. Reamer of rural Angola sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2000 Saturn car.

Smelling alcohol on her, he called for backup, according to a written statement issued by the Indiana State Police.

It said troopers began an inventory of the car because it was going to be impounded while Reamer was taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

One of the troopers reported finding several hypodermic needles inside a satchel, including one with a liquid that was later identified as methamphetamine.

Reamer’s blood-alcohol level tested at 0.12 percent, the state police said. She was preliminarily charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a hypodermic needle.
