Saint Francis men hold off Goshen in 2nd half

The Saint Francis men’s basketball team held off a late run to get a 93-86 victory at Goshen on Saturday.

The Cougars withstood a 55-42 Goshen surge in the second half to improve to 15-9 overall and 7-5 in the Crossroads League.

Scott Kohne had 21 points and 14 rebounds for Saint Francis, and Ethan Hussey scored 21.

Goshen (7-16, 0-12) was paced by Matt Glick’s 22 points.

INDIANA TECH 70, AQUINAS 60: Antonio Cannon’s 25 points led the Warriors (17-6, 10-5 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) at the Schaefer Center. Aquinas (10-13, 8-7) was led by Brandon Walker’s 14 points.

TRINE 63, KALAMAZOO 51: In Kalamazoo, Mich., Scott Rogers scored 13 points for the Thunder (12-7, 5-3 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association). Kalamazoo (5-14) got 20 points from Adam Peters.

GRACE 81, HUNTINGTON 75: In Huntington, Greg Miller had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Grace (17-6, 9-3 Crossroads). Huntington (12-12, 3-9) was led by Shane Merryman, who was one of five players in double figures with his 24 points.

HANOVER 79, MANCHESTER 57: In North Manchester, Silas Sims scored 16, but the Spartans (4-15, 1-11 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) were outscored by 17 in the second half. Ryan Nowicki scored 26 for Hanover (13-6, 10-2).

BALL STATE 82, MIAMI (OHIO) 62: In Oxford, Ohio, Majok Majok scored 21 points as the Cardinals (8-10, 2-4 Mid-American Conference) snapped a four-game losing streak. The RedHawks (7-11, 2-4) have lost three straight games.

INDIANA STATE 59, NORTHERN IOWA 58: In Terre Haute, Jake Odum’s two free throws with 0.3 second left lifted the Sycamores (13-7, 6-3 Missouri Valley) over the Panthers (11-10, 4-5). Odum had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists, pulling within 45 points of 1,000 for his career.

Women

SAINT FRANCIS 89, GOSHEN 37: Kayla Drake scored 21 points and lead the Cougars (22-2, 10-2 Crossroads) at the Hutzell Center. Goshen (2-22, 0-12) was paced by Jo’Mani Thomas’ 12 points.

INDIANA TECH 81, AQUINAS 74: Rachel Kruse scored 20 points to lead the Warriors (11-12, 9-6 WHAC) at the Schaefer Center. Aquinas (9-12, 5-10) got 24 points from Allison Heberlein.

HANOVER 68, MANCHESTER 65: In North Manchester, Hannah Field scored 12 points in the loss for Manchester (7-12, 6-6 HCAC). Hanover (15-4, 9-3) was led by Courtney Prater’s 23 points.

HUNTINGTON 62, GRACE 43: In Winona Lake, Pazia Speed had 24 points for Huntington (14-9, 6-6). Grace (15-9, 6-6) was led by Juaneice Jackson’s nine points.

BALL STATE 77, OHIO 46: In Muncie, the Cardinals (8-11) won their third straight conference game and improved to 5-1 in the MAC, their best conference start since 2008-09’s 4-0 mark. Brandy Woody had 23 points and six assists. Ohio (5-13, 0-6) was paced by Kiyanna Black’s 14 points.
