Irish add TE to recruiting class

Notre Dame added its 23rd oral commitment to its 2013 recruiting class Sunday.

Tight end Durham Smythe announced on his Twitter account that he chose the Irish, saying, "Officially committed to the University of Notre Dame!IrishMob13ND."

Smythe is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound prospect out of Belton (Texas) High School. He is rated a four-star prospect by ESPN and 247Sports, and he has a three-star rating from Rivals.com and Scout.com.

Smythe is the second tight end to join Notre Dame's recruiting class. Mike Heuerman is already enrolled at the university.
