Web letter by Patricia Logan: Analogy shows folly of voucher allocations

At a time when funding for public education has been slashed annually in significant lump sums, SB 184 now proposes to take more tax funds and apply them to the expansion of vouchers for children of families who have already selected a private education for their children.

The projection is that this decision will remove yet another $7 million of funding for the majority of Hoosier students – only to the benefit of a few.

Is this not equivalent to taking state funds for Indiana and Purdue universities, for example, and sending them to Notre Dame, Wabash or DePauw?
