Lugar to teach at IU

Indiana University President Michael McRobbie announced Thursday that former U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar will join the school as a distinguished scholar and professor of practice at the new School of Global and International Studies.

Additionally, Lugar will donate his senatorial records and documents to the political papers collections housed at libraries on IU's Bloomington campus.

McRobbie said former U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton, director of IU's Center on Congress, also will be a distinguished scholar and professor of practice at the global studies school.

Lugar left the Senate this month after 36 years in the chamber. The Hoosier Republican is a former chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Hamilton, an Indiana Democrat who left Congress in 1999 after 34 years, is a former chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee.
