Adele confirmed to be performing during Oscars

Adele

Adele will perform the James Bond theme “Skyfall” at the Oscars, her first U.S. performance since last year’s Grammy Awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Wednesday that Adele will sing the Oscar-nominated song at the 85th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 24. She and producer Paul Epworth are nominated for best original song for “Skyfall.”

The announcement isn’t much of a surprise considering Adele’s award show ubiquity. She recently won a Golden Globe for the Bond theme.

Adele hasn’t previously sung “Skyfall” live for an audience. She says in a statement that she’s honored to be singing in front of people who’ve captured her imagination. The Oscars will also present a tribute to James Bond, marking the 50th anniversary of the franchise.

’Mad Men’ to return to AMC on April 7

AMC says “Mad Men” will return for its new season on April 7.

AMC announced Wednesday that the two-hour premiere kicks off the acclaimed drama series’ sixth season. The episode was written by “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner.

“Mad Men” is set in the advertising world of circa-1960s New York City and stars Jon Hamm as agency exec Don Draper.

ABC, Fox remove struggling series

Two struggling comedies have been pulled from their networks’ schedules this week.

On Tuesday, ABC pulled “Don’t Trust the B–– in Apt. 23” from its schedule. Series star James Van Der Beek took to Twitter, saying “we’ve basically been cancelled” and thanking fans for their support of the show.

On Wednesday, the Fox network removed freshman comedy “Ben and Kate” from its Tuesday night lineup.

Duhamel to emcee Kids’ Choice Awards

There’s plenty of green slime in Josh Duhamel’s future.

The star of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” on Wednesday was named host of Nickelodeon’s 26th annual Kids’ Choice Awards, which will be broadcast March 23.

During the show, green slime is routinely dumped on celebrities.
