IPFW down at halftime

Even though IPFW trails Western Illinois 24-20 at halftime, it could have been worse. In fact, it was.

Western Illinois, the co-leader in the Summit League, built a 15-4 lead at the Gates Center with a little less than 13 minutes remaining in the half, but the Mastodons countered with a half-court zone trap that flustered the Leathernecks.

IPFW went on a 10-2 run to climb back, and got within 19-18 on a pair of free throws from Frank Gaines with 2:35 remaining.

Gaines leads IPFW with eight points, and Luis Jacobo has five.
