IPFW lost its second consecutive home game Thursday at the Gates Center, 43-40 to Summit League co-leader Western Illinois (16-4, 8-1).
The Mastodons (9-13, 2-6) trailed by 12 points, 43-31, with 8:37 remaining, but scored nine straight points to get within 43-40.
Luis Jacobo's three-pointer from the left wing rattled in and out with four seconds left. A loose ball ensued, and IPFW was awarded the ball with 0.1 second left.
Mario Hines was the only IPFW player in double figures with 13 points.
