Howard has MRI

An MRI performed Wednesday on Ron Howard showed that there was no severe damage to a knee that was injured Jan. 18 in the Ants' loss in Bakersfield, Calif.

The veteran 6-foot-5 guard who suffered the injury three minutes into the game, and has not played since, is expected to join the team for its Friday and Sunday games in Erie, Pa.

Howard, the team's second-leading scorer with 19.2 points per game, has been playing the point guard position ever since the Mad Ants sent Walker Russell Jr. to Reno.

The Ants (11-13) return to the Memorial Coliseum on Jan. 31 to face the Maine Red Claws.

Steve Warden blogs all things Mad Ants.
