Fitness resistance bands recalled

Perfect Resistance Bands sold at Wal-Mart and online have been recalled because the bands can detach from cloth loops, posing an injury hazard to the user and those nearby, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said today.

Consumers should stop using the product and contact the manufacturer, Implus Footcare of Durham, N.C., for a refund or replacement, the commission said in a statement.

About 75,600 of the Chinese-made bands were sold at Wal-Mart and at perfectonline.com for $13 to $17, the statement said.

It said 12 incidents were reported, 11 to the company and one to the commission, involving injuries to the back, hand and eye. One required medical attention; none were serious, the commission said.

To contact the manufacturer, call 800-446-7587, option 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fort Wayne time weekdays; email recall@4implus.com; or go to www.perfectonline.com/recalls.
