Shot at buzzer puts IPFW behind

Once a pair of officials determined via video replay that Estan Tyler's 18-footer at the buzzer was good, UMKC took a 26-25 halftime lead over IPFW on Saturday at Memorial Coliseum.

Tyler, the Kangaroos' leading scorer, had been held without a field goal for the first 18 minutes, 50 seconds, but he hit three buckets in the final 1:50.

IPFW held an 18-9 lead with 7:59 left in the half, but UMKC outscored the Mastodons 17-7 the rest of the way.

Mario Hines leads IPFW in scoring with nine points, and Frank Gaines has seven.

Steve Warden blogs all things IPFW.
