Shares of General Motors reached an important milestone on Friday, closing above their initial public offering price of $33 for the first time in more than two years. Joblessness in the metropolitan area – comprising Allen, Whitley and Wells counties – was higher than the national seasonally-adjusted jobless mark of 7.8 percent, but lower than the state's seasonally-adjusted 8.2 percent rate, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development said.
