The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of theft and fraud.About 12:30 p.m.FORT WAYNE – More than two hours after a fatal crash on East Coliseum at Crescent Avenue, eastbound lanes on Coliseum remained closed between North Anthony Boulevard and Crescent.
Fort Wayne police officers were called to the three-vehicle crash near IPFW shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, and the lanes were still closed as of 10:15 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a red Chevy Impala was going east on Coliseum and might have been changing lanes as it approached the intersection, according to a written statement issued by Raquel Foster, a police spokeswoman.
Witnesses told police that the Impala clipped the side-view mirror of a white Pontiac before rear-ending a tractor-trailer rig that was stopped in traffic at the intersection. The force of the impact pushed the truck about 2 feet forward, the police statement said.
It said the Impala bounced back and came to a final rest across two lanes on Coliseum Boulevard. Its driver died at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Lucas J. Goodmann, 23, of Fort Wayne. The Allen County Coroner’s Office said he was not wearing a seat belt.
No other injuries were reported.
