8 teens accused in business arson, burglary

Eight teenagers have been identified in connection with a burglary and arson at a Garrett business this fall.

Garrett Police Chief Keith A. Hefner issued a statement Thursday that said six Garrett youths and two others from Noble County, age 14 to 17, were involved in the crimes Nov. 10 at the Wash and Dry Laundromat.

The chief credited Garrett Detective Tara Smurr and “an incredible amount of cooperation from other law enforcement agencies” for getting to the bottom of the case.

The DeKalb County Juvenile Department will review the information and decide whether the teens will face adult charges, the statement said.
