IPFW trails at half

IPFW, hoping to break a two-game losing streak, trails South Dakota 30-26 at Memorial Coliseum on Thursday.

A three-pointer from the visiting Coyotes put the Mastodons behind from the outside, and IPFW has trailed ever since.

South Dakota held a 28-20 lead with 4:47 left in the half, but IPFW got three baskets from sophomore Joe Edwards, whose eight points leads the team in scoring. Michael Kibiloski has seven.

IPFW leading scorer Frank Gaines, who averages 18.8 points per game, is 0-for-7 from the floor, including a five-foot bank shot from the left side with two seconds remaining in the half. Gaines has one rebound and a foul.

South Dakota's 6-10 center Trevor Gruis is 4-for-6 and leads the Coyotes with nine points.
