Robbers struck two more apartment complexes Saturday night in Fort Wayne, raising the question of whether the cases are linked to a string of eight other similar holdups.
About 7:20 p.m., a couple reported that two men tried to rob them in the parking lot of Colony Bay Apartments, near Covington and Getz roads, said officer Chris Felton, a city police spokesman.
One of the robbers, armed with a long gun, approached the man and woman, and demanded money. The two then turned and ran from the robber, Felton said.
"The suspect chased after them a little bit and hit (the man) in the back with the gun," he said.
The man was not hurt by the blow, and the couple managed to get into their apartment without being robbed, Felton said.
In that case, the robber with the long gun was described as 6-foot-1 and black with a thin build. He wore a dark blue hooded jacket.
Shortly after 9 p.m., a holdup was reported at Canterbury Green Apartments, near St. Joe and St. Joe Center roads.
A robber with a shotgun stole items from a man in the lot of the apartment complex, Felton said.
No injuries were reported in that robbery, and no arrests were made in either case.
Felton said police were still investigating whether Saturday's robberies were related to the eight others reported last week at apartment complexes on the north and west sides.
Among those eight was a holdup at Colony Bay Apartments on Tuesday and one at Canterbury Green Apartments on Monday – the same complexes struck Saturday night.
