The Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana in conjunction with the Indiana State Bar Association will sponsor Talk to a Lawyer Today, a program that provides free legal consultation for those who cannot afford it. The program will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the following locations: Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza; Carnegie Library of Steuben County, Angola; and LaFontaine Center, Huntington. My Healthy City, created to help improve the health of Fort Wayne residents, will have its first meeting to brainstorm ideas from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Jan. 30 at Dash-In, 814 S. Calhoun St. The meeting is open to the public, but reservations need to be made at www.eventbrite.com/event/5016735190#.

McMillen Center for Health Education will have two of its nutrition programs broadcast next week on the Community Channel, a London-based TV and web-based broadcaster.
Shahin and Lesley Modarressi, and their 1-year-old son, Arden, have been named the 2013 March of Dimes Ambassador Family for the Northeast Division March of Babies event. Arden was born 15 weeks premature and spent 104 days in the hospital.
Alyssa Hockenberry, a local musician, is competing in the SafeAuto Insurance Do the Jingle music contest. People can vote for her video at www.safeauto.com/DotheJingle/video/Alyssa_Hockenberry through Feb. 28. The person with the most votes has a chance to win $5,000 plus a role in a commercial.
The Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts awarded Cheryl Jarrett of the Huntington County Soil and Water Conservation District a Star Award for her work. The award was presented last week at the associations annual conference.
