Saint Francis men fall on road

Scott Kohne’s 32 points were not enough as the Saint Francis men dropped a 67-65 decision to Marian on Thursday in Indianapolis.

Kohne, who added 10 rebounds, was 12 of 20 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line.

Kevin Bloom was the only other Cougars player in double figures with 17.

The Cougars made 22 of 31 (71 percent) from the free-throw line.

Saint Francis fell to 12-7 and 4-3 in the Crossroads League.

Marian (11-6, 3-4) got 27 points from Nick Achille.


NORTH DAKOTA STATE 67, IPFW 55: In Fargo, N.D., Taylor Braun scored 16 points to lead the Bison past the Mastodons.

Luis Jacobo scored 21 points for the Mastodons (8-10, 1-3 Summit League).

Braun was 7 of 12 from the field for North Dakota State (14-3, 5-0).

Lawrence Alexander had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Marshall Bjorklund had 14 points, and TrayVonn Wright added 10.

North Dakota State led 37-32 at halftime and never trailed in the second half.

North Dakota State’s largest lead was 16.

North Dakota State shot 57 percent from the field for the game, while IPFW shot 37.7 percent.

Jacobo was 5 of 12 from three-point range. Frank Gaines scored 12 points for the Mastodons. Mario Hines had seven rebounds.

The game was the 15th meeting between the two teams. IPFW leads the series 8-7.

BETHEL 98, GRACE 88: In Winona Lake, Greg Miller (28) and Bruce Grimm Jr. (23) both went over 20 points, but the Lancers still lost at home.

The Pilots secured the win with a 52-45 advantage in the second half.

HUNTINGTON 75, GOSHEN 50: In Huntington, Shane Merryman poured in 28 points, including 10 of 10 from the free-throw line, for the Foresters.

Also for Huntington, Alec Peterson had 15 points and Colin Featherston 11.


SAINT FRANCIS 71, MARIAN 45: At the Hutzell Center, Kayla Drake’s 20 points paced the Cougars.

Skylarr Shurn added 16 points for Saint Francis (17-2, 6-1 Crossroads League).

IPFW 65, NORTH DAKOTA STATE 58: At the Gates Center, Amanda Hyde’s 22 points helped improve the Mastodons to 6-10.

Erin Murphy added 17 points, and Stefanie Mauk scored nine.

The Mastodons led the Bison 33-32 at halftime.

BALL STATE 62, MIAMI (OHIO) 59: In Oxford, Ohio, Nathalie Fontaine’s 17 points led the Cardinals.

Brittany Carter added 15 points for Ball State, which led 30-29 at halftime.

HUNTINGTON 70, GOSHEN 50: In Goshen, the Foresters had four players in double figures in the road win.

Amelia Recker led Huntington (12-6, 4-3 Crossroads League) with 18 points, Taylor Foley had 13, Pazia Speed 11 and Sara Miller-Jennings 10.

Goshen (2-17, 0-7) got 15 points from Jomani Thomas.
