Cinematographers make nominations

The American Society of Cinematographers gave its nominations Wednesday in an awards-season race that has not yielded a clear frontrunner for today’s Academy Award nods.

The group’s nominees for the 27th annual ASC Awards are Seamus McGarvey for “Anna Karenina,” Danny Cohen for “Les Misérables,” Claudio Miranda for “Life of Pi,” Janusz Kaminski for “Lincoln” and Roger Deakins for “Skyfall.”

It was the 11th nomination for Deakins, who has won twice previously. Kaminski received his fifth nomination and has never won. The other nominees have each previously earned a single nod.

The society has previously made nominations for cinematography work in television. The winners will be announced Feb. 10.
