FORT WAYNE – The city of Fort Wayne will host several public meetings this month on its efforts to acquire Aqua Indianas water utility in southwest Fort Wayne.
Residents will be able to ask questions and obtain information at meetings throughout the community.
The meetings, which are free and open to the public, are scheduled as follows:
6:30 p.m. today, Southeast Area Partnership meeting, Calvary Third Presbyterian Church, 4700 S. Anthony Blvd.
3-6 p.m. Thursday, city Fire Station 19, 10116 Covington Road
6:30 p.m. Thursday, Northeast Area Partnership, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave.
11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Allen County Public Library-Aboite Branch, 5630 Coventry Lane
7 p.m. Jan. 16, Southwest Area Partnership, Fort Wayne Sport Club, 3102 Ardmore Ave.
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 17, Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza
6:30 p.m. Jan. 17, Northwest Area Partnership, Northridge Baptist Church, 1300 E. Cook Road
In November, Mayor Tom Henry announced that the city would begin a condemnation process against Aquas water utility.
A public hearing on the measure is scheduled for the City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at Citizens Square.
City officials contend they can provide better quality water at lower prices; Aqua officials contend they provide high-quality water at adequate pressures.
