When the Komets waived popular defenseman Colten Hayes in November, they said it was because he asked out of the team.
It made sense at the time; his style of play seemed to be more fitting for Missouri of the CHL, even though the Komets seemed to need a player of his ilk.
Personally, I thought it was a big loss for the Komets.
But now Hayes has left the Mavericks so he can come back to the ECHL. South Carolina had Hayes' rights and dealt him to Stockton, where he's going to now play.
In other moves of note, Patrick Knowlton, a player I thought should have made the Komets' roster out of training camp, has been signed by Toledo. He had been playing for former Komets assistant coach Gary Graham with Pensacola of the Southern Professional Hockey League. The Walleye also signed Tyler Miller from Pensacola. He played for the Komets last season.
You think Toledo coach Nick Vitucci scouted the Komets much last season?
