Reports: Kelly interviews with Eagles

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly has spoken to the Philadelphia Eagles about their vacant head coaching position, according to multiple reports.

Kelly interviewed with the Eagles on Tuesday before the Irish coach left the country, according to ESPN. The two sides plan to meet again when Kelly returns, the network reported on its website.

Kelly's meeting with the Eagles was also reported by CBSsports.com, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Associated Press.

Kelly led Notre Dame to the BCS championship game in his third season with the university. The Irish lost 42-14 to Alabama and finished the season 12-1 and ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 3 in the USA Today coaches poll.

Leading up to the national title game, Kelly said he wasn't aware of any NFL teams reaching out to him or his representatives about interviewing him, but he also didn't say he wouldn't be interested in an NFL job.

"All that other stuff, that happens when you're winning football games," Kelly said during Saturday's BCS media day at Sun Life Stadium. "I've been through this a lot in my career. It's flattering if there is interest."

Kelly referred to Notre Dame as his dream job when he was hired and reiterated that coaching the Irish his dream job before the BCS championship game.

Irish athletic director Jack Swarbrick said Sunday that he would sit down with Kelly after the season and that a raise and contract extension would be on the table. Kelly received a previously set two-year extension as part of his original deal with Notre Dame in January.

Eagles General manager Howie Roseman, owner Jeffrey Lurie and president Don Smolenski also plan to meet with former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith on Thursday, according to the AP.
