Corey Elkins of the Komets has been named ECHL player of the week for the week of Dec. 31 to Jan. 6, the league announced today.
Elkins scored three goals, including two game-winners, had three assists and was plus-5 in four games last week, the league said in a statement.
The award is sponsored by Sher-Wood Hockey, the league's exclusive puck supplier. On Elkins' behalf, a case of pucks will be donated to a Fort Wayne youth hockey organization, the league said.
Elkins is the second Komet honored this season. Ryan Lasch won the award for the week of Dec. 10 to 16.
