Bishop Luers graduate Deshaun Thomas scored 22 points to lead Ohio State to 74-64 victory against Purdue on Tuesday at Mackey Arena.
Terone Johnson scored 18 points to pace Purdue, but the Boilermakers couldn't complete a second-half rally. A.J. Hammons added 13 points as Purdue (7-8, 1-2 Big Ten) lost its second straight.
Johnson made two free throws with 2:59 to go to get Purdue within 70-64. Sam Thompson responded with a basket for Ohio State with 1:37 remaining.
Aaron Craft scored 15 points for the Buckeyes (12-3, 2-1).
Purdue returns to action Sunday at home against Penn State.
