Fire guts north-side home

A fire heavily damaged a house Saturday afternoon in north Fort Wayne, according to the city fire department.

About 2:30 p.m., a neighbor reported seeing flames at 8125 Pepperwood Court, near Lima and West Wallen roads, the department said.

When firefighters arrived, flames on the outside of the one-story house had spread into the attic.

It took 22 minutes to bring the fire under control, the department said. Four pets in the home survived the blaze.

The cause is under investigation.
