Coats bets chocolate on Irish

Sens. Dan Coats, R-Ind., and Richard Shelby, R-Ala., have made a friendly wager on the outcome of the BCS college football title game Monday night between the universities of Notre Dame and Alabama.

Coats said Friday he will give Shelby a basket of products from South Bend Chocolate Co. should Notre Dame lose. If the Fighting Irish defeat the Crimson Tide, Coats will collect from Shelby goods produced by Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

"I am confident the luck of the Irish will stem the Tide," Coats said Friday in a statement announcing the wager.
