His combative stance and his abrupt hand movement hinted at the possibility of danger.An ice fisherman was rescued Thursday after falling through the ice on a small pond near Roush Lake in Huntington County, Indiana conservation officers said.
Michael H. Gosnell was being treated at Parkview Huntington Hospital for cold-related injuries, as well as bruises and cuts, conservation officers said in a statement.
Rescuers were dispatched shortly after 11 a.m. to the pond, where Conservation Officer Mark Johnston found Gosnell clinging to the ice after falling through, the statement said.
It said Markle firefighter Michael Grant put on an insulated dry suit, crossed the pond and, with help from other rescuers, pulled Gosnell from the water.
Gosnell was not wearing a life jacket, the statement said, but a companion who witnessed the incident tossed him equipment to help him stay above water until he could be rescued.
