Mastodons vs. Middies

It seems like a time warp.

As Navy's Midshipmen warm up a few feet away, I'm struck by their appearance. Each player has short hair and is clean-shaven - something we rarely see in college (even high school) teams these days.

It's the second meeting between IPFW and Navy this season, as the Middies beat the Mastodons 54-49 earlier this season in Annapolis, Md.

IPFW senior guard Frank Gaines, who did not play against Navy because of a one-game suspension, needs 12 points to pass Bruce Roland for second place on the all-time career scoring list. Roland (1985-89) has 1,485 points.
