K's waive Thorne

With some thoughts on this

The Komets waived forward Stephon Thorne, who had two goals and three points in 26 games this season, and Brayden Metz, who was scoreless in one game.

The moves were made, no doubt, to make room for the three players assigned from Norfolk: Luca Caputi, Corey Elkins and Nick Schaus.

Also, the Komets have moved goalie Marco Cousineau onto the active roster and Charlie Effinger off, so I wonder if Cousineau starts Wednesday against Gwinnett. Defenseman Dan Nycholat was also placed on reserve.

I will be very surprised if Thorne isn't picked up somewhere. Maybe Evansville or Kalamazoo?

I don't know if there would have been much trade value for him, though. Terrific guy and a terrific player. If the Komets are lucky, he won't be picked up and they'll be able to use him later on, perhaps. But I'm sure he could catch on in the CHL if he wanted; think Rapid City, Bloomington or some team like that wouldn't be salivating for him right now?
