Driver critical after crash in west Steuben County

A Wolcottville man was in critical condition after he was found pinned inside his pickup truck early Saturday in west Steuben County, police said.

Mackie L. Manns Jr., 33, was traveling on Indiana 327, south of U.S. 20, when his vehicle went off the road and struck a tree, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said.

The sheriff’s department, Salem and Orland fire departments, and Steuben County EMS responded to the scene about 4:50 a.m. and found Manns unresponsive and pinned inside the vehicle.

After crews pulled Manns from the vehicle, he was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne where he was listed in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
