Over a four-day period, the Northrop boys basketball team played in five tournament-level games. The Bruins went 4-1 in those games, including winning a third straight SAC tournament championship Saturday with a 68-62 win over Concordia.
It will also give the Bruins valuable, albeit exhausting, experience come IHSAA tournament time when two games in regional will feel like nothing in comparison.
There were wins Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday in the SAC tournament and a 1-1 record after a trip to New Castle for the Hall of Fame Classic.
There was also a late-night bus trip from New Castle on Friday night into Saturday morning that went about 3½ hours, while the snow fell along U.S. 69.
But the Bruins bounced back on Saturday and had enough energy at the end to off the Cadets in the SAC title tilt.
"We just had to get some rest, get focused and get our minds right before the game, and we were ready to go," said Northrop's Antonio Richmond, who scored 16 points in the finale.
Now the Bruins get some rest, for their mind, body and soul.
