The National Weather Services says a winter weather advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. today to 1 a.m. Thursday for the Indiana counties of Elkhart, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben.
Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected by late tonight. Northeast winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph this morning with gusts of 30 to 35 mph through tonight.
A winter storm will affect the area through Wednesday evening. A strong low pressure system over Mississippi woll move northeast to Virginia tonight. Snow will expand northward through northern Indiana and northwest Ohio this morning and overspread south central lower Michigan late this morning.
The snow will be heavy at times today, especially along and southeast of the U.S. 24 corridor, before quickly diminishing in intensity tonight.
A winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibility will be limited due to strong winds blowing the snow around. Motorists should be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility and use caution.
