The Komets scored three goals in the third period to defeat Kalamazoo 5-3 Friday at Wings Stadium.
Kenny Reiter made 16 saves as Fort Wayne improved to 14-11-2.
Eric Giosa scored with 10:41 to go in the third period to give the Komets a 3-2 lead. Ryan Lasch made it 4-2 with a goal at 15:03. Thomas Beauregard extended the lead to 5-2 with a goal at 18:15. The Wings cut it to 5-3 at 19:19.
All of the scoring came in the final two periods. The Komets had 10 of the first 12 shots, but it was scoreless after the first period.
Josh Brittain and Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock scored goals for the Komets in the second period to make it 2-0. Kalamazoo responded with goals by Kory Karlander and Eric Kattelus later in the period to tie it at 2.
Giosas fourth goal of the season broke the tie.
The Komets outshot the Wings 29-19 and improved to 5-3-1 against Kalamazoo (11-13-3).
Fort Wayne returns to action today at Memorial Coliseum against Trenton. Newly acquired defenseman Tim Priamo is expected to make his debut for the Komets.
