So, suddenly the Big East side of the fence doesn't look as green as it once did for Boise State.

Green, however, is the operative word here. Surprise, surprise.

The motivating factor for almost everything in big-time college athletics these days is motivating Boise to reconsider its move from the Mountain West to the Big East, aka the Conference Previously Known As The Big East. At issue are Boise's home broadcast rights, which the Broncos are trying to retain and which both the Big East and MWC have indicated isn't going to happen.

Couple of ways to look at this.

One, as set forth by an anonymous Boise State source, is that Boise has gotten too big for its pantaloons and doesn't have the kind of clout necessary to play the two conferences off each other. The other is that, well, they're pretty doggone astute in playing both conferences off each other.

The Blob's take?

I think what's really back of all this is that Boise's gotten a look at what the reconstituted Big East is going to look like, and has realized it's not only no longer East, it's no longer Big. It's a mid-size, same as the Mountain West.

And so, the broadcast rights are an issue, suddenly. Again, surprise, surprise.
