Luers LB up for another award

Already the winner of Mr. Football and Butkus awards, Bishop Luers senior linebacker Jaylon Smith was named Thursday as one of six finalists for the American Family Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Smith will found out if he won the award Jan. 4 during the awards dinner for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

3 area teams in girls basketball tourney

Three northeast Indiana teams will play in the Columbus North Invitational tonight and Saturday.

Class A No. 1 Canterbury, 3A No. 2 Norwell and 4A No. 6 South Side will be a part of the two-day, 12-team event.

‘State’ wrestling tourney Saturday

Three area wrestling teams will participate in the IHSWCA unofficial “state” tournament Saturday at Westfield.

The three small schools will be Adams Central (13-3), South Adams (11-4) and Churubusco (10-4).
